Indoor
plants are just like pets. They love attention and require as much care as
pets.
Indoor
plants are not the easiest to take care of. Plant lovers can tell you for sure
that you can plant one to three times before they flourish. The reward however
is all worth it. Different plants have different maintenance techniques. They
are not a one procedure fits all. Indoor plants mostly require more care due to
limitation in light and the difference in temperature indoors in comparison to
outdoors. Green plants, flowers or even fruits can be planted indoors.
Depending on the species and type, they can flourish in either completely indoor
spaces with no light and natural ventilation or in more open spaces such as
entryways and balconies.
Indoor
plants are a major characteristic in Tropical Style of Interior design. This
style fully embraces nature and therefore incorporates water and plant life in
indoor spaces. Before engaging in buying plants, it would be good to do some research
on the type of plants that can survive in your home. This varies because it
depends on the geographical location, the space available and whether one has
small children or pets.
There
are several plants that generally work well in a lot of spaces.
Palms
Palms
come in very many different species such as Dwarf Date Palm, Areca Palm, Bamboo
palm etc. The leaves in these plants are very similar and the difference comes
in the thickness and height of stems, the size they grow and the configuration
of the leaves. The leaves are pointy and therefore some people may be afraid of
having them in homes with small children. Palms are both an indoor and outdoor
plant.
Snake Plant
Snake
plants are referred to as the nearly impossible plants to kill because they are
one of the most resistant plants. They require very little water and not
frequently, they can survive in a space with no natural light or natural
ventilation. They also do not grow wide and therefore work perfectly in small
spaces such as bathrooms and toilets. They come in a wide variety as well with
a distinct feature being the colour at the edge of the leaves.
Banana
This
is quite a favorite especially for those people who love Bohemian “Boho” style of
Interior Design. The
banana plant can grow as tall as 4 meters and be very bushy due to a large
number of leaves. Just like a normal banana plant, the leaves need to be pruned
to reduce their number. This plant is a good pick for large spaces that require
a large plant to give it character. Entryways, under stair and double volume
spaces need such plants as they come in a good scale.
Ferns
Ferns
have different species and can be planted in free standing or hanging pots.
They have small leaves and very many stems. Ferns are quite delicate and
require some small amount of direct sunlight in order to grow. Therefore, the best location to
place ferns is near the window or at the balcony. They generally do not have
flowers and therefore look good when placed near white walls or windows.

First time plant owners sometimes struggle with the term
"low light". Plants are categorized into low - high light
requirements and its not that easy to understand the difference between medium
and low light. The 14 plus plants in this video can live in either low or
medium light, so there is no need to pull your hair out in frustration. Check
